A Dose of Culture: Emily Dickinson

"Wild Nights! Wild Nights!
Were I with thee,
Wild Nights should be
Our luxury!

"Futile the winds
To a heart in port, --
Done with the compass,
Done with the chart!

"Rowing in Eden!
Ah! the sea!
Might I but moor
To-night in Thee!"

--"Wild Nights! Wild Nights!"

I like this one because I think too many people imagine female writers (I'm thinking specifically of Dickinson and Austen) of being these virginal, two-dimensional characters incapable of anything even approaching interest in sex.

While they may not have been incapable of sex, I'm incapable of liking what Dickinson writes.
